The Brotherhood rebuilt society, but not in a way Áine Radley can embrace. She barely sleeps in her dilapidated high-rise home. Traveling 780 miles an hour in the quiet of the Hyperloop, the world outside is awash in gray. At the Lot, no one touches. No one speaks. The children she teaches become more robotic with every passing year. A daily mantra of "it could always be worse" keeps Áine on her feet. That is, until she meets a strangely familiar, strikingly perfect dark-eyed man, and sees firsthand how much worse life can be. Following him into the Lion's den, where felons fight one-on-one to the death, Áine must quell fears she never knew existed and find beauty in the last place expected —to truly survive.

Between the fight scenes and the romance, this book kept me on the edge of my seat! I loved the main characters, Aine and Rian... their chemistry was intense from the start and I liked watching how much they both changed by the end. Rian softened and Aine became a total badass! This is a dystopian novel, so the setting was gloomy (moving from life in a restricted society to a sort of prison), but everything was so well flushed out and the romance helped keep things lighter. Highly recommend!
Very well written. Left me wanting more. I can't wait to read more from this author.
Loved it! The story takes place in a bleak but engrossing future where most of humanity is reduced to an underclass. The author has a fresh, unique voice that really shines as the heroine is put through dangerous trials and begins to come to terms with the hidden realities of her world. The tempo builds throughout the story into the thrilling conclusion, which was satisfying although it left open many questions and possibilities... Can't wait for more!!!
